Who Are We Propping Up with Our OIl

 The 32 members of the "International" Energy Agency agreed to dump 400 million barrels of oil from their Strategic Oil Reserves onto the market, to knock the price of crude down a little. Guess who gets hammered? 172 million of that 400 million barrels is coming from our US Strategic Oil Reserve.

We are a net exporter of petroleum products. Who are we propping up by dumping this oil on the market?

We started filling our SPR in 1982. It held over 700 million barrels from March 2008 - September 2011. 

When Biden took office, January 2021, it held 638 million barrels. He sold it off until it held only 347 million barrels in August 2023.

From a November 2024 press release: The U.S. Department of Energy today announced that 200 million barrels of crude oil have been delivered, contracted at a good deal for taxpayers, an average price of $74.75. following the closure of the most recent solicitation to acquire 2.4 million barrels of crude oil for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). This aggressive buyback strategy has resulted in the purchase of 20 million barrels more than the 180 million barrels sold under the emergency declaration authorized by President Biden in 2022 following the unpreceded Russian invasion of Ukraine.  

When President Trump took office, January 2025, the Reserve held 394 million barrels. In early March 2026 it held 415 million barrels. I wonder who got the rest of Biden's 200 million barrels?

Let's look at the DC style math. Biden said he drew the SPR down by 180 million barrels. 638 million barrels in January 2021 minus 347 million barrels in August 2023. 638-347=291 million barrel drawdown by most peoples math, not 180 million as claimed by Biden. How did the feds lose 111 million barrels of oil (291 actual drawdown-180 claimed drawdown)? Next, lets put 200 million back in. 347 million barrels in August 2023, 415 million barrels in March 2026. 415-347=only 68 million put back in. Did the feds lose another 132 million barrels (200 claimed refill-68 actual refill)?

The only time the SPR held less oil than it will after the current proposed drawdown was when it was first being filled. 

I haven't heard one politician wonder who is lying about the SPR, or question why we are drawing it down to subsidize Asia & Europe. I don't want to be a conspiracy theorist but either all DC politicians and bureaucrats are lying, self-serving scum, or there is some type of major conspiracy to destroy the US.

NASCAR - Pathetic

 Kathy and I used to watch almost every NASCAR race on TV. Over the years our enthusiasm has waned dramatically. NASCAR's continual tinkering with the rules to make cars equal is a crime against auto racing. Their change from "over the air" TV to pay TV left us outside, since we weren't willing to pay for some of the channels they broadcast on. We did watch last Sunday's race at Daytona. I almost want to vomit when I hear the announcers breathlessly talk about the speeds during the race. It would be funny were it not such a bunch of hogwash. Chase Briscoe won this years poll with an average lap speed of 182.745 mph. This sounds fast, if you have no knowledge of NASCAR. The last time a Daytona 500 NASCAR pole was won with a this slow a lap was in 1971 when A.J. The share of U.S.-born, working-age (16 to 64) men not in the labor force has increased for six decades. It was 11.3 percent in April 1960, 16.9 percent in April 2000, and 22.1 percent in April 2024.
